FoodFind: Chef Bistro

Our second chance to use up online coupons was during our wedding anniversary.  D and I went to Chef’s Bistro at Scout Gandia, which is along the Tomas Morato area.

Since we had a preview of the menu online, we pretty much knew how many coupons we needed to purchase.  We decided to get an appetizer, then one main dish each.

First, a picture of the place, so you’ll know what it looks like from the outside.

Personally, I was expecting a fine dining kind of setup, so I was a bit weirded out over the selection of chairs, tables, and decors.  I thought it would have the kind of white tablecloths and pale illumination, but it didn’t.  I’m not complaining though, it’s just that it was not what I was expecting. =)  Hubby however, loved the place, and the fact that it wasn’t too crowded helped a lot.

After ordering, the waiter served some bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  The bread was really good, but I think there was too much vinegar.  I like it better at Italianni’s, where they only place a small dab of vinegar with the plateful of olive oil.  Oh, and have I mentioned that the bread was good? =)

For our appetizer, an order of Pisa — layers of crepe with shrimp and mushrooms and a special sauce in between each layer.  We both like how the dish was presented, and the taste was very new and unique.

And see all the cheese on top, oozing down?  Yummy!

For our main course, lengua for me and lamb chops for D.  Comfort food.

And here’s a close up of the Lengua.  More cheese on top.  I slathered the sauce on the mashed potatoes too.

We thought that the serving sizes were too much for us, but we managed to finish everything!  D was very happy with his lamb chops.  I took a bite and agreed that it tasted fresh and flavorful indeed.

The downside is that we didn’t have room for dessert anymore.  D had wanted to order the house special crepe, but maybe we’ll save that for our next visit.  They also have an affordable breakfast buffet, but it’s only available on sundays, so i don’t think we’ll get to try that soon.  Crossing our fingers, though. =)
