I Confess, I Rarely Cook on Saturdays Now

Okaaaaay… I guess I had to say it sooner or later.

Yes, I rarely cook on saturdays!  Recently, anyway.  It has been weeks since our last trip to the wet market that we go to, which used to be 10-15 minutes away by car.  Now there’s a road construction that more than doubled travel time.  Anyhow.  There’s one that’s nearer — walkable, really small too — but I doubt if they worry about hygiene there.  And, since I usually go to the grocery, and I can buy my ingredients for dinner on weekdays an hour before I cook them, I sometimes make calculations and it really doesn’t save you much.  Now let’s be clear.  I’m not comparing it to fastfood outlets and fancy restaurants.  I’m talking about our local manang’s carinderia a few steps away.  Of course, with cooking my own food, I can pick healthy dishes and healthier ways of cooking them. But on days when you’re too busy with chores, buying from Manang seems more reasonable.
